Dr. Penn is a board certified Pediatrician and a Fellow of the AmericanAcademy of Pediatrics. Dr. Penn began her career in medicine at CornellUniversity, where she obtained a B.A. in Biology and Society. With a focus on primary care and prevention in underserved communities, she completed her medical degree at Howard University College of Medicine.
Dr. Penn, received postgraduate training in pediatrics at New YorkPresbyterianHospitalColumbiaUniversity, where she also received specialty training in Community Pediatrics through the Anne E. Dyson Community Pediatrics Program. Being committed to serving the underserved and realizing the key role of pediatricians as not only providers, but also advocates for their patients searching for systemic changes in health care, she obtained further training in Preventive Medicine and obtained a Master in Public Health-Health Policy and Management/International Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
To achieve practical experience in public health/health policy, Dr. Penn received the distinguished Luther Terry Fellowship within the Office of the Surgeon General and worked in the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion at the US Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, DC.
Dr. Penn is committed to practicing community pediatrics, expanding community outreach programs, serving the underserved, and working toward systemic changes that affect health status.
Dr. Penn is married to Romney Penn and they have two beautiful children, Araba and Averad.
Her hobbies include travel, exercise, playing the piano, and running around with her kids. Dr. Penn also speaks fluent medical Spanish and basic French.
