Robert Zamelis, M.D.

 

Robert Alexander Zamelis, M.D. was born and raised in Upstate NY.  He did his undergraduate work at McGill University in Human Genetics, and received his Medical Degree from SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY.  He completed his Residency training in Internal Medicine at the Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, NY  and  is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, re-certifying in November 2003.  Dr. Zamelis has been a member of  The American Diabetes Association, and has been listed in the Who's who in Diabetes in 2005 and 2006 for clinical treatment and education of diabetes.

After practicing Internal Medicine in the Cooperstown, NY area for several years, Dr. Zamelis moved to St. Thomas and joined Red Hook and Cruz Bay Family Practices in 1995.

The majority of Robert's patients have complex medical problems, and/or are diagnostic dilemmas, and are referred by other physicians.  Robert can be seen at either Red Hook Family Practice in St. Thomas or Cruz Bay Family Practice in St. John by appointment only.
